EN301549 requirements that go beyond WCAG – workshop series
The presumed conformance of the Web Accessibility Directive is found in the EN 301549 Annex A. More than 60 of these minimum requirements go beyond WCAG, and are deemed difficult to interpret, as there is no “how to meet”/understanding/examples of techniques or similar documentation attached to the EN.
Our series of workshops have been supporting the interpretation of EN 301549 requirements that go beyond WCAG, and has influenced the update of the standard to support the European Accessibility Act.
In light of the ongoing standardisation work, we re-discussed some requirements in our workshop on 22 September 2025. Our dedicated volunteers and workshop participants looked at the new formulations in the draft standard, summarising and validating the work carried out during the last two years.
